Introducing the Montessori Climber aka Pikler Triangle

The Montessori Climber or Pikler Triangle is a large wooden climbing triangle which challenges your child in natural, open-ended play sessions. It can be used alone or as part of a wooden climbing frame set, comprising a climbing ramp and arch support.

The Pikler Triangle was developed by Hungarian paediatrician Dr. Emmi Pikler over 100 years ago. She believed children should explore the Pikler Triangle on their own terms. If they can climb it, they should be able to do so freely.

It can be used for children as young as 12mths up to around 5 yrs. The Pikler Triangle allows children to learn their own boundaries during their exploration time.

The great benefit of the triangle is that it doesn’t need to be adjusted as your child grows because it works as the foundation on which they reach developmental milestones.

For example, babies can first play underneath it. Once they’re ready they can use it to pull themselves up, then proceed to climb the structure. They can use their imagination and learn new skills.
